Oh awesome, another fad diet!
I tried a keto diet around April 2018, found some guy online with a meal plan, got stuck in and followed it for about 6 weeks and lost about 7-8kgs.
I felt great!
I stuck with it on and off for the next year or so, but not as strictly as the first 4-6 weeks. I was measuring my protein portions and eating a lot of greens, trying to stick to grass fed meat as much as possible. Having butter in my coffee and laying off the carbs.
A trip to Japan around May 2018 with my band Lo! kinda put a stop to it! So much ramen and Boss coffee.
Then recently I watched the Netflix doco ‘The Gamechangers’. These people were eating fully plant based diets and smashing their goals and then some.
I’m not even that worried about being the best or fastest or strongest. I just want to be healthy and lose a bit of weight along the way.
I have a lot of vegetarian and vegan friends so cutting out meat is something that has been on my mind for a long time, years actually.
I’ve cooked for vegan friends from time to time and have always been surprised at how its possible to make vegan food taste good without too much effort. Sometimes I’ve found I need to get more ingredients, but its not as hard as I always made it out to be in my head.
So I’ve been eating a plant based diet for the past 2 weeks.
I do love the challenge of trying new foods and finding new recipes to break up the rut I always get into when I stick to a certain diet. Ive been trying all sorts of vegan meals and snacks, trying to figure out what I like and where I can get nutrition.
I also subscribed to Soulara (referral link) for their ready made healthy plant based meal plans and I’m impressed with the flavour they manage to pack in. Unlike other meal subscription boxes, their meals are individually packaged and ready to heat and eat. I’m just having them for dinners now and cooking my own meals during the day.
I’ve lost some weight again and I’m feeling really good.
I’ve also cut down quite a bit on alcohol during the week, no booze on at least Monday to Thursday depending on what social stuff is happening that week. Cutting out booze always helps with everything.
